Mt Vesuvius stopped time here in 79 AD. This phenomenal manor started to be sistematically excavated only in 1964 and shortly was attributed to Emperor Nero’s wife. The frescoes and Mosaics were created by outstanding masters of the 1st century after Christ. Observing the excavated part, one can vividly imagine the vast gardens and buildings with thermal baths and pools of olympic measures. Compared to the excavations of Pompeji and Herculaneum Oplontis impresses with excellently preserved details. Also for the plaster casts of doors, windows and roots Oplontis is a must.
